19, 1998, at the Zion Health Care Center. Ruth was born June 6, 1920, in Hurricane to Frank and Sarah Ida Webb Barber. She married Arnold Ensign Cannon Jan. 30, 1942, in the St. George LDS Temple.

They had four children. Frank preceded her in death June 29, 1985. Ruth worked at the Hurricane Elementary School as a secretary tor 19 years. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many positions. She served in the Young Women's and in the Primary for 25 years.

She was an ordinance worker in the St. George Temple with her husband. Ruth enjoyed conking and playing piano. She was always doing things for other people. Ruth's greatest love was for her family.

Ruth is survived by her children: Wesley (Darlene) Cannon of Grace, Idaho, Douglas (Joan) Cannon of Malad, Idaho, Scott (Danna) Cannon of Las Vegas, Connie (Richard) Gray of Hurricane; two brothers: Ralston Barber of St. George, Keith Barber of Pasco, three sisters: LaRue Heaton of Hurricane, Beulah Isom of Logan, Leila Sullivan of St. George; 1 7 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one grandson. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Zion Health Care and staff for their professional assistance and concern.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. in the Hurricane LDS East Stake Center, 677 S. 700 West. Visitations will be Friday, Aug.

GEORGE Partha Ann Jacobsen Gardner, 93, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at her home in St. George. She was born Nov. 27, 1904, in Pine Valley to Christian Hyrum and Louisa Hunt Jacobsen.

She married Leornal Gardner Aug. 23, 1923, at the Jacobsen Family Ranch in Central. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple Jan. 15, 1926.

Leornal preceded her in death Oct. 31, 1982. Partha and Leornal started their married life on the Jacobsen Ranch near Central. This was always a special place to Partha, as her parents had home-steaded the land. She and Leornal were involved in farming and ranching all their lives, not only in Central and Pine Valley, but in the Beryl area as well.

When they sold their farm in Beryl, they returned to the ranch at Central where they enjoyed many years with their family. Partha devoted her life to raising her family and being a helpmate to her husband. She was a very hard worker. She was extremely talented. She loved to write and was quite artistic.

She loved gardening and being outdoors. She will always be remembered for her positive attitude, and the good example she was to all of us. Partha is survived by her five sons and three daughters: Edward (Mary) Gardner of Beryl, Helen (Wayne) Carter of St. George, Mary (Jim) Simmons of Salt Lake City, Leo (Barbara) Gardner of Beryl, Malin (Marilyn) Gardner of Beryl, George (LaRee) Gardner of Enterprise, and Ann Sullivan (Charles, deceased). Partha and Leornal had 65 grandchildren and 226 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the St. George LDS Stake Center, 500 N. Bluff Street.

Friends may call Sunday from 7-8 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary, 300 W. St. George and on Monday from a.m. at the stake center prior to services.

31, 1929, to Nathan Alma Petty and Pearl Eddwards in Cedar City. Rodeo married Roberta Naegle on July 15, 1950, in Pioche, Nev. Rodeo was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving the in U.S. Marines. He worked at the Iron mines in Cedar City, and moved to Henderson, where he was a truck driver for 26 years.

Rodeo was the past president of the Henderson Saddle Association. Rodeo is survived by his wife Roberta of Cedar City; and his children all of Henderson: Arnold Roe (Norma Petty, Steven Ray (Colleen) Petty, and Debra Petty; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers: Mack (Sharon) Petty of Henderson, and Guy Petty of Cedar City; sisters: Peggy (Gil) Alvarez of Bellflower, Diana (Mike) Hornak of Chino, and Joan (Earl) Paddock of Cedar City. Rodeo was preceded in death by his parents, a brother (Nate), and a sister (Dixie). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at 2 p.m.

at the Southern Utah Mortuary Chapel. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery. Douglas Eddington LAVERKIN -George Douglas Eddington, 97, passed away on Aug.

16, 1998 at the St. George Care Center in St. George. He was born on Sept. 20, 1900, in Park City a son of George and Ruth Hall Eddington.

He married Georgia Fairbanks on Jan. 25, 1929 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died on Nov. 22, 1964. He married Lovina Bundy on Oct.

30, 1965 in the St. George LDS Temple. She died in April of 1980. He married Leona Canfield on March 7, 1981 in Magna. She also preceded him in death.

George was reared and educated in Driggs, Idaho, and graduated from Ricks College. He is an active member of the LDS Church and served in a bishopric, as high priest, group leader and as a stake George was president of Eddington Enterprises and invented a steam engine for cars. He worked as a machinist for Lockheed Aviation during World War II. He moved to St. George in 1955 and bought the Lee Motel and worked on the Hurricane Mesa in the machine shop.

He moved to Logan in 1963, where he was head of the Electro Dynamics Lab at Utah State University until 1977. He worked on his steam engine after retirement for 20 years, and it has just been patented with a prototype working model. He loved to go to the He is survived by his daughter Ann (E. Sherwin) Slack of LaVerkin; six grandchildren: Douglas (Lori), Kathy, Anna, Amy (Laron) Stout, Dallas and Sarah; and four great-grandchildren: Ashely, Erin, Jade and Riley; brother Lester (Anna) Eddington of Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug.
