Arthur was such a person. He taught us the true meaning of love, not through his words, but through his actions. He made huge personal sacrifices for family and friends.

Arthur was an honorable man who was admired and respected by all who knew him. Bom in Mamorneck, N.Y., he resided there for 41 years of his life serving this community as an arborist and owner of Gomes Tree Service. An outdoor man by heart, he and his wife of seven years, Donna Neal Gomes, moved to southern Utah where he enjoyed the beauty of the mountains, the wildlife and working on his own land. Art was a loving father to Alicia and Billy Gomes. He was always there advising them how to become self-sufficient, set goals and live a happy and full life.

He tried his best to be supportive in all their endeavors and get them on the right path when they ventured the wrong way. An adoring husband, he would make personal sacrifices just to put a smile on Donna's face. The love he expressed could never be put into words. Arthur fell asleep in his Atlanta, home holding his wife's hand on Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998.

He left that home at 10:30 p.m. that night to receive Jesus and go to his new home that home is called Heaven. All who knew him, loved him. We will all experience a void in our hearts because of a man who made a difference. Arthur Gomes' memorial service will be conducted at Red Hills Southern Baptist Church located at Southern Utah University on Sunday, Oct.
