By The Associated Press SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Mothers Against Drunk Driving are handing out more than 150,000 ribbons to remind Utahns not to drink and drive, especially during the holidays. "Please, be responsible," said Utah MADD president Connie Harton, whose husband was killed when his car was hit by a drunken driver. "And, please, if you've been drinking, don't get behind the wheel of a car.

That temporary choice you make aging holiday drivers to abstain from drinking. "I never believed in a million years I would bury my husband because someone chose to be irresponsible," she said. The Utah chapter of MADD have donated 15 breath testers and four portable video cameras to Utah police agencies and kicked off the "Project Red Ribbon: Tie One On For Safety" campaign. The hundreds of thousand of ribbons provided under that campaign will be given to Utahns to attach to their cars as they celebrate the holidays, Harton said.

4. The woman told police the child had been acting normal until the fall. However, Assistant State Medical Examiner Dr. Maureen Frikke believes the injuries were "non-accidental" and apparently caused by the while the child was in the exclusive care of Farrer. said Linda Hall, seismic analyst for the University of Utah seismograph stations.

Shaw said the four are accused of stealing about 64,900 feet of electrical cable weighing nearly half a ton from overhead freeway lights since September and selling the copper wire to salvage yards.

Shaw said most of the wire has been accounted for. Dale Lake, a Utah Department of Transportation spokesman, estimated it will cost the state as much as $75,000 to replace the stolen cable and repair damage to the lighting systems. Lake said the thefts were confined to Weber County. Similar wire thefts took place in Salt Lake County a year ago, Lake said, "but they caught the guys that were doing it." Shaw said investigators knew the identities of the suspects, but finding them was difficult because they did not have permanent addresses. The four had to have some skill to cut the wires from the boxes at the bottom of the lights without being electrocuted, Shaw said.

"It wouldn't be an easy thing," he said. "It would take a couple of people just to pull the wire out of the conduit underground and roll it up." Damage is estimated at $4,800. Bergeson, 128 E. 200 West, reportedly had an altercation with the pedestrians earlier that afternoon.

A female juvenile was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center for minor injuries after the car ran over her leg. The child died a day after the incident at Primary Children's Medical Center. Deputy Salt Lake, County Attorney James Cope said Farrer has agreed to surrender and bail has been set at $10,000. She is scheduled to make a first appearance on Thursday. If convicted, she could face 5-years-to-life in prison.
