LOCAL The Spectrum Sunday, May 7, 2000 A5 OBITUARIES McCrae Watson Sr. ST. GEORGE David McCrae Watson 68, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at the Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George. He was born Aug.

28, 1931, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to David Watson and Ruth Lindsay. He married Colleen Fielding Oct. 14, 1954, in Honolulu. David was raised and educated in Honolulu, graduating from Roosevelt High School. He was a graduate of BYU in Provo, and obtained his masters degree from the University of Utah.

He taught school in the Salt Lake School District for 30 years at West High School and at Highland High School. David was a member of the LDS Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1956. He moved to St.

George in 1983. David to travel to Mexico to collect ironwood. He was a very unique individual. He is survived by his wife: Colleen F. Watson of St.

George; a son: David (Margo) Watson of Holladay; a daughter: Suzanne (Gordon) Mart of Sandy; and grandchildren: Derek Watson, Cody Mart, 'Lindsey Watson, Elliott Mart, Venissa Watson and Tabitha Watson. The family will receive guests Monday, May 8, 2000, from 6 to 8 p.m. 1. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City.

Special thanks to emergency service personnel of St. George. Interment will be at a later date in Hawaii. Arrangements are under the direction of Spilsbury Beard Mortuary, 673-2454. www.spilsburybeard.com Gordon Beckstrom PANGUITCH Gordon Beckstrom, 67, of Panguitch, passed away May 2, 2000, at his son's home in Murrieta, Calif.

He was born March 23, 1933, in Panguitch to Dilworth "Dewy" and Iola LeFevre Beckstrom. He married Annette Veater, June 20, 1952, in the St. George LDS Temple. He was raised and educated in Panguitch. He moved his family to San Diego, where he worked as a truck driver and warehouseman for more than 30 years.

He retired and moved back to Panguitch in 1997. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time with his family in many activities. He was an active member of the LDS Church, where he served in many capacities. He is survived by his wife: Annette of. Panguitch; children: Shirley Carlson of St.

George, Stanley (Nancy) Beckstrom Cedar City, Clayton (Helen) Beckstrom of Cedar City, Michael (Rebecka) Beckstrom of Murrieta, and Kenneth (Denise) Beckstrom of San Diego; 26 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister; Fern Shakespear of Layton. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Bernard, Leland, Melvin and Clayton Beckstrom; sister, Pauline Davis. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at 1 p.m. in the Panguitch 3rd LDS Ward Chapel 200 N. 400 East.

Viewing, Monday evening from 6 to 7:30 and again on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the ward chapel in Panguitch. Burial will be in the Panguitch Cemetery. Funeral directors, Neal S.

Magleby Sons Mortuary, Richfield, Utah. Lawrence Stewart ST. GEORGE Lawrence (Dewey) Edwin Stewart, 62, passed away May 5, 2000, due to complications from surgery. He was born Jan. 26, 1938, to Lyle Edwin Street and Lillian Roberts Stewart.

He was later adopted by John L. Stewart. He married Donna Shelton on Feb. 2, 1961, in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

'DEATH NOTICE Leonard Jorgensen SANTA BARBARA, Calif. Leonard Neilsen Jorgensen died May 4, 2000, at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital following a long illness. He was born Oct. 22, 1915, in Hyrum, Utah. Leonard is survived by his daughter: Julie (Tom) Larson; three brothers: Jack Jorgensen, Howard (Beverly) Jorgensen and Reed (Gail) Jorgensen; two sisters: Gladys (Blaine) Parker, Gloria (Reed) Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. Dewey graduated from Lehi High School in 1956. He lived in Lehi for 48 years and spent the last 15 years in St. George.

He was employed by Associated Foods for 29 years and was working for Harmons in St. George. He was voted salesman of the year several times. He loved boating, tennis, sports, yard work and cooking breakfast. He especially loved to vacation with his family.

He will most be remembered for his friendliness towards anyone he came in contact with and his characteristic laugh. He is survived by his loving wife: Donna of St. George; sons and daughters: Michael (Karin) Stewart of Lehi Suzanne (Keith) Pulham of Lehi, Elizabeth (Justin) Thompson of Lehi, Rebecca (Tony) Ivins of Highland and Jannette (Chad) Bean of St. George; two brothers: Lynn (Margie) Stewart of Lehi and Blaine (Yvonne) Stewart of Ogden; and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a LuDean Pugh; and a grandson: Tanner Stewart.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of LDS Hospital for its care and compassion towards Dewey and his family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2000 at noon at the Sego Lily Ward Chapel, 880 N. 700 East, Lehi. Friends may call at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, Monday evening from 6 to 8 and at the church Tuesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery. He will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Richard Groverman ST. GEORGE Richard Heald Groverman, 78, died of pneumonia on April 26, 2000. He was born May 5, 1921, in Youngstown, Ohio.

The family moved to Washington, D.C., when he was a boy. After high school he worked at the David Taylor Model Basin in the Washington, D.C., area until his cousin showed up at the dinner table one evening in 1941 and invited the young 19-year-old to join him on a cross-country trip to California, whereupon Richard promptly accepted. He landed in the then-sunny-andcharming little town of Hollywood, got a room and a job, and phoned his school sweetheart, Marjorie Bumgarner, and asked her to marry said yes, promptly dropped out of college, and traveled five days by train across the he country to the fresh new world of Los Angeles in 1941 where the two were married. He was a flight instructor and B-24 Bomber pilot in the Eighth Air Force, and flew out of England on precision daylight bombing raids of Germany. After the war he and Marjorie returned to the Los Angeles area, where Richard worked first as a carpenter and then as a building inspector for the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety. He was also busy moonlighting as an architectural designer, and in Lomita, built the first -of several of the family homes. At the time of retirement from the Building Department he held the position of senior major structures Inspector. On evenings and weekends during Richard's last 10 years of work he was designing and building a 46-foot motor sailor.

The three kids were grown and on their own by this time, SO at retirement, Richard and Marjorie sold the house and lived aboard the vessel, sailing the local California waters. In his heart he was a builder, however, and soon the two had purchased 13 acres outside of Mariposa, sold the boat, and moved a little 18-foot travel trailer to the land to serve as temporary quarters while Richard designed and built the house, barn and vineyard. After 10 years in Mariposa they grew restless again and moved on the St. George, where Richard once a again designed their home, and this time, being in his early 70s, "only" assisted in its construction. He leaves his wife: Marjorie; three children: Alice' (Cross), David and Susan; three grandchildren: Tony, Amy and Leslie; and two greatgrandchildren: Haily and Emily, (with two more on the way).

Annette Mitchell CEDAR CITY Annette Sherratt Mitchell, our beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend, returned home to our Father in Heaven on May 3, 2000. She was born on Oct. 19, 1955, in Cedar City, Utah, to Garth and Eileen Sherratt, second of nine children. She married Bruce Mitchell and they were happily married for 15 years. Annette was a member of the LDS Church and looked forward to ing Relief Society.

Annette enjoyed the outdoors and the activities that were outdoors: camping, four-wheeling, boating, hunting, and fishing. Annette was a loving person that took in anyone who needed help. Michael Thompson LAVERKIN On May 3, 2000, our beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and friend passed from his earthly home to once again live with his Heavenly Father. He was born April 28, 1964, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to T. Barry and Doreen Brydson Thompson. Mike had a wonderful talent for making and keeping good friends. He was always helping out the less fortunate.

He had a special way about him that will never be forgotten. Mike was an avid photographer, great rock climber, and master woodworker. Mike had a special way with animals and loved his dog "Doc." We will always remember and love you, Mike Mike we are now releasing from your earthly home. You may soar with the Eagles now.

Mike is survived by his three children; two sisters: Marlene Thompson and Miriam (Troy) Ellingford; two brothers: Mark (Janeal) Thompson and Monte Thompson; five nieces and six nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister: Maree. Graveside services will be Monday, May 8, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the Hurricane City Cemetery.
