For more information about the competition contact Ava Pace at 477-3366 CEDAR CITY Jan Graham to address student convocation Utah Attorney General Jan Graham will speak at the Southern Utah University convocation Thursday at 1 1 a.m. in the SUU auditorium. Graham, who served as Utah's solicitor general prior to her election as attorney general, will speak about legal issues in Utah from the perspective of attorney general.

Other convocation addresses scheduled include Brent Robinson, governing fellow of Hughes Hall at the University of Cambridge. GEORGE Republican women hold legislative luncheon The Republican Women of Washington County will host four Southern Utah state legislators for a luncheon meeting Thursday at noon at the Elk's Lodge at 630 W. 1250 North in St.

George. Sen. Dave Watson. R-St. George and Republican Reps.

CEDAR CITY Rammettes plan championship review The 1994-95 2A state championship drill team hosts the annual "Rammette Review" Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Parowan High School gymnasium. The Rammettes won first place in the Region 13 competition before taking the state title in February.

Lilias Adams Carrell in Deseret, Utah. He married Janis Wiess in Magna, Utah, on Dec. 19, 1958. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Jan. 26, 1965.

She preceded him in death on Apr. 14, 1989. Mr. Carrell was a veteran of World War II. He lived in Garfield and Magna, Utah, most of his life.

He worked for Kennecott Copper for 30 years. He spent the last 12 years in Hurricane, Utah. He was a member of the Lions Club in Magna. He loved working on cars. He is survived by six sons, Kenneth Dan Carrell, West Valley City, Utah, Steven John Carrell, Pensacola, Lynn Guy Carrell, West Valley City, Utah, Glen Roy Carrell, Virgin, Utah, Vern Loy Carrell, Hurricane, Utah, and Dean Ray Carrell, Ivins, Utah; a brother, John Carrell, Magna; three sisters, Madge Hogan, Erda, Utah, Dee Bigley, Magna, and Beth Sherman, Albuquerque, N.M.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are in the Hurricane City Cemetery on Friday, March 24, at noon. Friends may call at the Metcalf Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 140 N. Main, on Friday, 11 to 12 prior to services. Interment in the Hurricane City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Hurricane Valley Mortuary, Cloy Hamelwright PRICE, Utah Cloy Hamelwright, 86, died march 19, 1995, in St. George.

Born in Castle Dale, Utah, Jan. 3, 1909, to Arthur G. and Hannah C. Anderson Hamelwright. Married Hazel Marie Gun-derson Aug.

17, 1929, in Price, Utah, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Survived by his son, Gale Cloy Hamelwright and wife Jeniene of St. George; grandchildren, Mark Hamelwright, Kristy Hamelwright and Keri Morris, and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife and two brothers, Movel and Lee. Funeral services are Friday, March 24, 1995, at 11 a.m.

V3 Leland Hunt HURRICANE, Utah Leland "Lee" Jacob Hunt, 82, died March 19, 1995, at his residence in Hurricane, Utah. He was born Sept. 1, 1913.

in Gunlock, Utah, to James Wilson and Rozilla Pulsipher Hunt. He married Claudia Beames in October, 1946, in Las Vegas. Mr. Hunt is a lifetime resident of Southern Utah and Nevada, a man with many talents. In his youth, he was an outstanding athlete and a star player for the Panaca High School basketball and football teams.

Lee worked in heavy construction and mining for many years. He was one of the best "power" men in the business. Lee was a Veteran of WWII and was one of the survivors of the "Battle of the Bulge." He was very proud of his country and military experiences. Mr. Hunt was an exceptional entertainer.

He loved to tell stories, write poetry, play the harmonica and dance. Lee was a personal friend to boxer Jack Dempsey and for short time trained under him while training for a golden glove fight. Mr. Hunt was a farmer, businessman (former owner of Lounge in Hurricane), heavy construction power-man and miner, he especially loved to fish and his favorite fishing holes were Enterprise and New Castle reservoirs. Survivors include wife, Claudia Beames Hunt of Hurricane, Utah; daughter, Mrs.

Stanley "Marilyn" Swekin of Hurricane, Utah; son, Nathan and wife Judy Anderson of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Dale B. "Ruby" Perkins of Alamo, Norma L. Perkins of Logandale, Mrs. Victor "Wanda" Angell of Alamo, three brothers, James C.

and wife Maura Hunt of Hiko, Lewis V. and wife Dorothy Hunt of Phoenix, and Noland D. and wife Nancy Hunt of Seattle, Wash. He was preceded in death by one son, Curtis Leland Hunt, and one brother, H. Alton Hunt.

Funeral services are Thursday, March 23, 1995, 11 a.m. at the Hurricane 2nd, 7th, and 8th LDS Ward Chapel, 155 E. 1050 North. Friends may call Wednesday evening at Spilsbury Desert Rose Mortuary from 7 to 8 p.m., 525 W. State Street, Hurricane, Utah and on Thursday at the chapel one hour prior to services.

Interment is in the Hurricane Cemetery under the direction of Spilsbury Desert Rose Mortuary, with full military honors accorded by the St. George VFW Cottam-Hafen Post 2628. She was born May 10, 1915, in Hamilton Fort, Utah, to Edwin Reid and Mary Hmilton Cox.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Inez Cox. Mary moved to Cedar City as a child and graduated from Junior High School as Valedictorian of her class. High School graduation and graduation from the BAC also brought high honors. She taught school in Cedar City for one year before marrying her lifelong sweetheart, Morris Buhanan, on June 26, 1936, in the St. George LDS Temple.

Making her home a heaven on earth then became her most important work. She was very active in the LDS church and served in many callings, including 19 years as the Stake Young Women's Secretary. She also served in the Relief Society, primary, library, genealogy committees and as ordinance worker in the St. George LDS Temple for 1 1 years. She spent a lifetime in service to God and her family.

Mary raised five children and devoted herself to caring for them and her grandchildren. Her hobbies of art, music, dancing, sewing, quilting and reading greatly enriched their lives. She is survived by: her husband, Morris, of Cedar City; two sons Dale C. and Cheryl Buhanan of Phoenix, and Paul M. Buhanan of Cedar City; three daughters, Phyllis and David O.

Topham of Salt Lake City, Nancy and Daniel Bauer of Sandy, Utah, and Bonnie and Brian Terry of Salt Lake City; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers R. Reid Cox of American Fork, Utah, and Edwin Charles (Ted) Cox of Orem, Utah. Funeral services are Saturday, March 25, 1995, at 11 a.m. at the Cedar City LDS North Stake Center, 61 N. 900 West.

Friends may call Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary. Interment is in the Cedar City Cemetery. Oakley Evans SALT LAKE CITYST.

GEORGE Mr. Oakley Spencer Evans of Salt Lake City and St. George died in St. George at Red Cliffs Regional Convalescent Center on Tuesday, March 21, 1995, after a long illness. At his passing he was surrounded by his family.

Mr. Evans was born in Springville, Utah on May 14, 1913, to Shirl Osborne Evans and Blanche Oakley Evans. He was married to Mabel (Mimi) Wilson on Sept. 13, 1935, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he had held several positions of leadership in various wards of the Church including Sunday School teacher and superintendent and counselor in a branch presidency.

Mr. Evans attended Brigham Young University where he graduated summa cum laude in 1935 with a B.A. degree in business administration. He worked for the J.C. President and Director of Corporate Development. Upon retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Evans settled in Salt Lake City where he was called to be President of ZCMI, serving for 10 years. He also served as President of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from 1975 to 1984.

Mr. Evans was a member of the Council of Urban America and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He was also a member of the Board of Directors for each of the following: the Shopping Center Research Foundation of the ICSC, Deseret Book, First Security Bank, Bonneville International, utah Idaho Sugar, Deseret Industries and Ballet West. In addition, he was an honorary colonel in the Utah National Guard. Mr.

Evans is survived by his wife Mabel (Mimi) Wilson Evans, a brother, Dr. Shirl O. Evans of Pasadena, and his five daughters, Mrs. John R. (Antoinette) Clark of Payson, Utah, Mrs.

John (Wendy) Ruppel of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Chapin (Christine) Burks of St. George, Mrs. Steve (Julie) Simons of Hollis, N.H., and Mrs. Rich (Dinny) Harter of Truckee, Calif.

Also remaining are 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Mr. Evans will be fondly missed by his loving family and many members of the community. We appreciate the staff at the Red Cliffs Regional Convalescent Center who gave Mr. Evans such tender care during his last years.

Funeral arrangements are being made in Salt Lake City by Wasatch Lawn Mortuary; '3401 Highland Drive. Viewing is on Friday from 7 to '9 and also on Saturday at the ward house at 1 1 a.m. preceding the funeral services. The funeral is at noon on Saturday, March 25, at Monument Park 17th Ward. 2795 Crestview Drive.

Funeral services were Feb. 13 in Walnut Hill Cemetery. Lewis was a member of the Masonic Franklin Lodge No. 27 and Cedar City chapter No. 20.
