Color Country Spectrum Thursday. esssssss Vn a41 tig i "Nw.i.-ii i n.iJi" I 7 -A I Parade of Homes set for Saturday ST. GEORGE-The 1979 edition of the "Parade of Homes" will begin Saturday in St. George at the Morningside Estates at 700 S. 900 E.

with eight homes on display. It will run through June 3. The home show will open to the public at noon on Saturday and from Sunday through Friday at 2 p.m. to dusk. On June 2, the show will be opened at 10 a.m.

The eight homes include: Colonial Showcase, and Builders, builder, and Warren Hannig, contractor; Crestwood, Frank Fisher, builder and contractor; Manchester, Weller Manning-Orton, Builder, Morris Orton, contractor; Easy Living, and Builders, builder, Vic Conde, contractor.

The Woodridge, Pinion Enterprises, builder, Rod Ence, contractor; Windbledon, Green Valley Development, Builder, Allan Coombs, contractor; The Covnetry, Morningside, builder. Warren Hannig, contractor and the Regency, Robert L. Pastore, Builder, and contractor. All home has been built by members of the association. "The builders and contractors have worked hard to complete the homes in time for the home show," Pickett said.

The nine day home show will include floorplan booklets and exhibits in addition to the homes and door prizes and drawing will take place during the show. Admission to the "Parade of homes" has been set at $2. HURRICANE Cassie Hall, sweetheart of Hurricane High School chapter of Future Farmers of America, was chosen Utah state sweetheart at a recent FFA convention in Salt Lake City. She won the honor in competition with 47 other candidates, judged on poise and personality, modeling, and dedication to agricultural objectives.

She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred E. Hall, residents of the south Hurricane fields. Mrs.

Hall is an officer of the Hurricane branch, Dixie State Bank. Cassie is an honor student at HHS, and an active member of the FFA organization. She owns her own horse and has won many ribbons in competition in barrel racing and pole ben Vera Fern Forsythe Beatty Jack Hepper, a Science instructor at Dixie Junior High School has been named the "Outstanding Biology Teacher" in the State of Utah for 1979. He also has been named one of 50 recipients in the nation as an outstandings Science teacher. Heppler receives state honor ST.

GEORGE Jack Heppler, a Dixie Junior High School Biology and Science teacher has been named the "Outstanding Biology Teacher" in the State of Utah for 1979 by the Utah Academy of Sciences. Heppler has also been named one of 50 recipients of an "Outstanding Science Teacher" award in the nation. For this national honor Dixie Junior High will receive a research microscope donated to the school in his name. He was selected by the National Association of Biology Teachers for the honor. The microscope is valued at about $2,000.

Heppler has taught in the field of Biological Sciences at the junior high level in St. George for 14 years. He is originally from Beaver and is married and the father of three children, two girls and one boy. He received a B.S. degree from Utah State University in 1965 in the area of Physics and Mathematics.

In 1971 he received his Masters degree from Michigan State University in the Biology field. "He is one of the most respected and loved teachers at the junior high," Principal David Broadhead said. "The kids have nicknamed him "Doc" as he once patched up a student's cuts and bruises several years ago." "He is well respected among his fellow teachers and he keeps up in this field by redoing and revising his teaching program each year," Broadhead said. "It was a pleasure for me to write a letter of recommendation for him to receive the honor." Heppler has served as a past president of the Washington County Teachers Association and has served for 14 years as an advisor to the school's student executive council. "He belonged to the Regional Science Fair advisory council made up of five teachers from the five county area this past year," Broadhead said.

"He also has been on the national committee that evaluates the annual National Science Fair held this year in San Antonio, Texas." Heppler along with five junior high students attended the national fair this past spring. It was the sixth year Heppler has attended the national event. "He has been instrumental in the success the kids involved in the science fair have had on the local level and at the national fair," Broadhead said. Cassie Hall Enterprise plans cleanup Vera Fern Forsythe Beatty, 84, a resident of Toquerville, died early Thursday morning, May 24 at the home of a daughter Mrs. Keith Lola Campbell of Hurricane.

Vera was born June 1, 1895 in Toquerville, the daughter of Benjamin and Barbara Ann Lamb Forsythe. She married Walter Lamb Beatty July 7, 1910 in St. George. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple.

Mr. Beatty died October 18, 1978. Mrs. Beatty had been an active member of the LDS Church having served as a Relief Society visiting teacher for many years. She had also served as the Ward President of both the Primary and the Young Ladies Mutual program.

She had also served many years as a Temple ordinance worker. four daughters: Park F. Beatty of Albuquerque, N.M.; Mrs. Newell "Ar-mena" DeMille of Moses Lake, Mrs. Douglas "Olga" Manning of Cedar City; Mrs.

Lloyd "Helene" McAllister of Kanab; Mrs. Keith "Lola" Campbell of Hurricane. 21 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, two sisters: Mrs. Ethel Dewey Mrs. Marie Hunsick both of Chico, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Toquerville Ward chapel. Friends may call at Metcalf-Campbell Mortuary in Hurricane on Friday evening from 8 to 9:30 p.m. and at the Toquerville Ward chapel on Saturday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Toquerville City Cemetery.

Mayor Alpine Bowler, of Enterpise, has announced the month of June as Cleanup month for the community. Citizens are encouraged to identify a project and complete during the month of June. A poster contest depicting community cleanup is open to all 4th, 5th, 6th grade students. Prizes will be awarded to the three outstanding participants, with all of the posters used in the community to advertise the cleanup campaign. All poster participants will be recognized with a Participation Certificate.
