Suspected rebels kill at least 34 in Columbia BOGOTA, Colombia Suspected leftist rebels massacred at least 34 farm workers early Tuesday on a remote ranch in northeast Colombia, a town mayor said. The workers were sleeping in hammocks at a ranch near La Gabarra, 310 miles northeast of the capital, Bogota, when gunmen burst through the doors, tied the workers up and shot them with automatic weapons, said La Gabarra Mayor Taiz Ortega. Nuclear agency plans sharp rebuke of Iran VIENNA, Austria Diplomats said they were near agreement Tuesday on a toughly worded draft resolution to censure Iran rather than punish it for its lack of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The document under consideration at the IAEA 35-nation board of governors meeting lacked a direct threat of sanctions but did keep pressure on Iran to come clean on aspects of its 20-year covert nuclear program that was discovered two years ago. The draft resolution written by Germany, France and Britain was expected to be adopted later this week, the diplomats said on condition of anonymity. French anti-terror police make arrests PARIS French anti-terror police arrested 13 people, including a Muslim prayer leader, and seized weapons in raids Tuesday of suspected Islamic militants in the Paris region, police said.

Police said the suspects were thought to have been involved in forging official papers. Blank documents and plastic laminating materials were found in the sweep. Those taken into custody included an imam, or prayer leader, from the Hauts-de-Seine region and others from the neighboring SeineSaint-Denis area, judicial sources said on condition of anonymity. Both areas are home to large communities of Muslims. At least one pistol was seized in a detainee's home, police and judicial sources said, without indicating whether more weapons were found.

The suspects, aged 25 to 35, were detained in connection with a judicial investigation opened last week, the officials said without elaborating. They all reportedly were from the Salafist movement, which holds to a strict interpretation of Islam.
