OBITUARIES Farris Rose Bent Ivins, Utah Mona G. Leavitt Kamas, Utah Annette Lindsay Brown St. George Betty Renee Peterson Pace New Harmony, Utah Brigham Young University, Utah Valley Technical College, and in her later years, earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Southern Utah University. Rose served faithfully as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many Church callings. She is survived by children; Victoria Bell Tarinelli (Richard), Robin Rose Jennings, Harold Douglas Bent, Dana Douglas Bent, Chris Swindells stepdaughter) sister-in-law, Jane Bybee, 15 grandchildren and 33 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Bent and daughter, Kimberly Rose Bent. Funeral services will be held at the Washington LDS Chapel, 82 N. Main, Washington, Utah at 1:00 pm. A viewing will be held at 12:00 noon before the service. The family wishes to express profound gratitude to all of her caregivers at the Ivins Veterans Home and Journey of Hope Hospice.

Preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Echo Ellis Lindsay. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 the LDS South Jordan Utah River Ridge 1st Ward Chapel, 10124 South 1300 West, South Jordan, Utah 84095.

Leavitt, 96, passed away peacefully in Brigham City, Utah on January 12, 2016. She was born in Woodland, Utah on April 1 1919 to Clifton and Frances Ellen (Chamberlain) Gines. She attended school in Kamas. On September 4, 1937 she married Dale ames Leavitt. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and never wavered from its principles. She served as a missionary with her husband Dale in Iowa. She accepted every calling and was a force for good. She mothered her children and grandchildren and there was never any doubt as to what was expected. Sometimes it was silent, often not.

She was an example of faith and courage to all. Mona was an expert seamstress, sewing western shirts for her boys and dresses for her daughter, and granddaughters. Also for her nieces, and her sister. She was a good partner and a hard worker. They had a sawmill business and a farm.

There was always plenty to do. Later she was the office manager for the Leavitt Lumber Company. Mom was the family Chairman of Entertainment. She led the way in boating, skiing, and competitive card playing. She would drag Dale away to have fun.

She is survived by her children: Stan (Marcia) Leavitt of Kamas; Connie (Earl) Duke of Logan; Lynn of Kamas; Jack (Carol) of Brigham City; Glen (Cathy) of Lewistown, Montana; and Kent (Sheri Kaye) of Kamas Brothers Blaine Gines, Kamas; Kenneth White of Cedar City; also 34 grandchildren and 114 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Dale, and two great grandsons, Seth and Peter; two sisters, June and Jeanette; and three brothers, Max, Lee, and Jimmy. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kamas LDS Ward Chapel, 100 West Center Street. Friends and family may call at the church on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Rose was born on September 7, 1920 to George Myron Bybee and Ruhama Victoria Adair in Tropic, Utah. She had nine siblings and spent the majority of her childhood and Tropic.

Rose joined the United States Navy in 1941 and served four years in World War II in the dental field. After the war, she married Douglas Harding Bent in Las Vegas, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. She attended Marlin Oliver Gifford Hurricane illfp'" 'I I I' tU 1 i Hurricane, Utah Marlin Oliver Gifford passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the age of 78. He was born on September 5, 1937 in Hurricane, Utah to Jesse Gifford and Mary Noma DeMille. He married Dixie Dot Flanigan on October 23, 1964.

Other than three years, he lived his entire life in Hurricane. He attended Hurricane High School and was a member of his high school band. After graduation he attended Salt Lake Barber College in 1957 and practiced in Hurricane until 1961 when he was drafted into the military. He served in the US Army for two years, which included one year in Germany. Just three weeks after being discharged he met the love of his life, Dixie.

In October of the following year, they were married in the St. George temple. Marlin was a barber by trade and practiced for 54 years, retiring in 2013. During 20 of those years, he also worked as a custodian for the LDS church. Although he enjoyed cutting men's hair, his favorite part of his work was socializing with the guys, and everyone, really.

Marlin never met a person he didn't like to talk to. He was an active member of the LDS church, and served in many capacities. However, his favorite calling was as a temple worker in the St. George temple. He worked at the front desk checking recommends for five years.

He enjoyed this the most because it allowed him to interact with others continually. Marlin had many in 1934-2016 Betty Renee Peterson Pace, age 81, returned to her Heavenly Father on January 9, 2016 at her home in New Harmony, Utah, surrounded by members of her family. She was born on June 26, 1934 to Sherald and Velma Williams Peterson in Cedar City, UT. Betty spent her childhood in Boulder City, NV as her father moved there to help build Hoover Dam. She spent her high school years living in Davis Dam, AZ attending High School in nearby Kingman.

Summers were spent visiting Grandparents in Kanarraville, UT. It was there-after graduating high school she met the love of her life, Gordon Pace of New Harmony. They married February 14, 1953. Together they raised four sons and a daughter. She often said that being a wife, mother and homemaker for her family was her greatest joy in life.

She and her family lived in New Harmony, UT; Boulder City, NV; Downey, Bishop, Whittier, and Lone Pine, CA and finally coming full circle to retire back on the family farm in New Harmony, UT. Her commitment was to her family and her Savior, Jesus Christ and she loved serving those around her. As a member of the LDS church she served in many different capacities including primary and Sunday school teacher, cub-scout den mother, and most often in the Relief Society presidencies of wards she lived in. There are many memories of her taking a meal or a warm loaf of bread in to a family in need or just providing support for someone that needed a listening ear. She took both her mother and mother-in-law into her home and lovingly cared for them in their aging years.

She was a ministering angel to so many. Betty is survived by her husband of 63 years (next month) -Gordon; sons Mark of Banning, CA; Steve of Glendora, CA; James (Carolyn) of New Harmony, of Las Vegas, NV and Nancy (Russ) Thornley of Orem, UT; sister Cherie Baldwin of Cedar City, UT; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, brother Dal Peterson, and granddaughter Angela Thornley. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to so many that assisted as Betty faced the challenge of Alzheimer's Disease, especially Rachelle Colvin, Francesca Gregersen, Victoria Diaz, Deborah Corbridge, Bob Groke and the IHC Hospice Staff, and LuAnn Lundquist of the Alzheimer and Dementia Society. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 12:00 Noon in the New Harmony LDS Chapel (12 Main, New Harmony, UT).

George Utah passed away on January 10, 2016 in St. George, Utah after valiantly beating cancer but, weakened by her chemotherapy and previous health problems, was unable to overcome a blood infection. Her children were by her bedside to say goodbye as she slipped peacefully away. Annette was born on July 18, 1965 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Kenneth Powell Lindsay and Dorothy Echo Ellis Lindsay. She graduated from Taylorsville High School and attended Snow College where she met and married Kerry E.

Brown on June 28, 1985 in the Salt Lake Temple (later divorced). Annette was a student body officer at Taylorsville HS and was a student body president at Snow College. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the temple. She had a powerful testimony of the gospel.

Annette loved and adored her four children. Charlotte Ann Perkins Murdock St. George, Utah Charlotte Ann Perkins Murdock George, UT- W- jLI Charlotte A Ann Perkins Murdock, 76, passed away January 3, 2016, after a valiant 16-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis and more recently a pulmonary embolism and pneumonia. She was born in Cedar City, UT, on April 16, 1939, the fourth of five children to Ralph C. and Fern Ruby Perkins.

Charlotte attended Cedar City High School and later Weber State College, an example to her posterity of the importance of lifelong education and learning. On June 8, 1957, Charlotte married her high school sweetheart, S. Reed Murdock, in the LDS St. George Temple. She supported her husband through years of schooling, after which the family settled in Layton, UT from 1968 through 2011, where they raised their five children.

She worked in the Davis County school system where she retired as a secretary. She served in various church callings from ward chorister to auxiliary presidencies beginning from the age of 16 until the day she passed, including supporting her husband through many years of his callings. Charlotte was loving and compassionate and regularly wrote to a wide circle of friends and families. Particular beneficiaries of her hand-written letters were her numerous missionary grandchildren of whom she was proud. She was loved by her family and friends who will all miss her sense of humor, beautiful smile and cheerful acceptance of whatever life brought her way.

She loved nature, beautiful sunsets and traveling the world with Reed to visit her children and grandkids. She enjoyed music and at one time had as many as 25 piano students. She is known for giving countless gifts to others, often made through her own handiwork; a true labor of love. Charlotte's illness resulted in needing supplemental oxygen for over 16 years, 24 hours a day. She will be remembered for her positivity terests.

He loved to fish, camp, spend time outdoors, listen to old western music, and search for firewood and Indian arrowheads. He had a fascination with Greyhound buses from his earliest youth which stayed with him his entire life. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family and close friends especially those he shared Pepsi and peanuts with. Marlin was known for giving nicknames to everything--kids, grandkids, and anything else he could think of. Everyone found his made-up words entertaining and his children and grandchildren continue to use his unique words.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie; son Gregory (Lori) Gifford; son-in-law Jason Sadovich; five grandchildren Joshua (Bridgette) Gifford, Kimberly Sadovich, Jessica (Collin) Montgomery, Cavan Gifford and Kenadee Gifford; three great grandchildren Jordan, Camden and Elizabeth; and sister Anna (Burton) Sant. He is preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, his daughter Deborah Sadovich, and grandchildren Kristin Sadovich and Jayden Gifford. Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at at the Hurricane 2nd ward LDS chapel located at 155 1050 in Hurricane, UT. Viewings will be held on Friday, January 15th from 5-7pm at the Spilsbury Mortuary at 25 2000 in Hurricane and Saturday, January 16th from at Hurricane 2nd ward chapel. Interment will take place in the Hurricane City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your favorite local charity or use the funds on a dinner out with loved ones. Friends and family are invited to sign Marlins guest book at when dealing with sickness and heartache, never complaining due to her deep faith in the Savior and her steadfast conviction that "I'll be all right." She is a true example of Christ-like qualities of hope, charity, forgiveness and respect. Charlotte is survived by her husband of 58 years, her children: Gordon Reed (Terumi), Jeanette Mahaffey (Shannon), Russell Perkins (Krystin), Suzanne Wray (Joe) and Ralph Carlos (Lisa), foster daughter; Lolita Spencer, 26 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; sisters: Colleen Neeley and LaRue Rosenberg and numerous beloved nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Kenneth and Dale, grandson; Mitch Murdock, and her dear niece; Linda Shriber. Her family wishes to thank the countless nurses, CNAs and housekeepers at Dixie Regional Medical Center who provided her with loving and compassionate care in several stays over the past few years, too many to name separately.

Particular thanks to Doctors Alexander and Flanders in Layton who supported her early on and Doctors Ferguson, Goodger and Gardner who were especially attentive in her last years, especially Dr. Ferguson who was at her side when she passed. A visitation will be held on January 16, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. 10:30 a.m., with funeral services after at 11:00 a.m., in the Bloomington LDS Stake Center located at 200 W. Brigham Road, St.

George, UT. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Cemetery located at 650 East 600 North, Beaver, UT. Charlotte loved flowers, however, due to inclement weather, the family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her name to the Dixie Regional Medical Center Foundation to further the compassionate care to others that was given to her.
